Making Progress

The last couple of days have been good for us. I've felt more productive and motivated, so I've actually gotten some things done. We got our landlord to send someone to do a few little things around our apartment (fixing cracked grout, installing the doorknob on our security door, etc.). Mark tackled the giant project of cleaning out and reorganizing his closet in the study where he keeps percussion and computer equipment. He did a fantastic job; it's even neater than when we first moved in and unpacked. Between Mark and the apartment maintenance guy, I was motivated to do some extra cleaning and sorting, too. Today I finally got back to work on my fall syllabus, which has come a long way, but there's certainly more to do tomorrow. We also just gathered up all the documents we'll need for our petition for AZ residency, so tomorrow I can call and make the appointment with the residency office at UA. Our hope is to be reclassified as residents, which will make a huge difference financially. Thankfully, the residency person we meet with will tell us at the interview one way or another, so we won't have to wait. I've also mailed off my paperwork for the online rater job I was just offered on Tuesday, so I hope to hear from them sometime next week and be able to start the training. And, we've got some friends coming for dinner tonight, which we've really been looking forward to. Overall, it's still nice to be on summer break; but it's also been good for me to be tackling some little tasks, chores, and errands, not just letting the days slip by like they had been.
