Alaska Excursions: Seahawk and Rainforest Island Nature Walk

Our last excursion took place during our stop in Ketchikan. After a short bus ride to the marina, we got dressed for a Seahawk boat ride to the island we'd be exploring. Our boat captain kept an eye out for bald eagles, and we saw a whole bunch of them. He stopped a few times to let us get a good look and some photos.

At the island, we shed some of our gear and got ready to take a walk with our guide Maggie. The path was actually a boardwalk, but with lots of stairs (which we weren't expecting based on the description). It was a great way, though, to experience this rainforest. We learned all about the different trees and plants, as well as a few animals, that live in this ecosystem.

We took a quick boat ride back, and got a few more pictures at the marina before we loaded up on the bus yet again. :-)
