First Half of Spring Semester

Well, today is the first day of spring break, which means we're halfway through the spring semester already! Here are a few miscellaneous updates...

We're enjoying our season tickets to the Broadway shows at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo. We saw Evita in early February and loved it. I was surprised by how much of the music I remembered, and Mark let me feel like a bit of an expert as he asked me about the real Evita (I took a class about her in college...a bit rusty, but it was fun to think about it all again).

We went bowling! Our friends Chad and Paul invited us--it was our first time at the BG bowling alley, and we all had fun.

We've had all kinds of interesting weather, and some very cold stretches, but still not any big snow storms (since the one that extended our stay in Florida back in January). I'd like to get another good one--like 4-5 inches--on a day Mark's not commuting, but it might not happen this year. One day in mid-February, we had freezing rain. It sure makes the roads and sidewalks treacherous, but leaves the trees and other plants looking so beautiful.

Recently, Mark's been working really hard on reorganizing his practice space. He switched out a bookshelf for a file cabinet (to store his music) and rearranged the layout, making room for his newest equipment: the electronic drumset. I wish he had more space, but he's certainly making good use of what he's got! (And, he's inspired me to do some cleaning out and organizing, so I hope to make progress on that during the rest of spring break this week).

And this weekend, we caught the race cars on display at the mall in town, which seems to happen around this time every year.

Also, I'm really enjoying the one class I'm teaching this semester, TESOL Methods. It's my 3rd time teaching it, so I've been able to focus on making some specific adjustments, but I also have a good feel for the big picture and each week's lesson, so it's running smoothly. Since I taught the extra class in the fall, my overall workload is relatively light this semester, and I've been enjoying that, too--so much less stressed and exhausted (although sometimes I have to remind myself of that!).
