Happy to be home

The last week has been quite an adventure! I went to Denver late Tuesday afternoon for the TESOL convention and got back to Tucson around 11 last night. I'm really glad I went, but I am also very glad to be back home--it was an exhausting week! The convention was a really good experience for me--I was able to attend lots of different sessions and learn about areas within the field of ESL (like adult ed and citizenship) that I am very interested in but haven't (and probably won't) encounter in my coursework at UA. There were a ton of people there, so one of the strangest things was knowing there were people I knew at the convention, but not really seeing them. Thankfully, though, I did run into a few people and had the chance to meet some students in the SLAT program (the PhD program at UA). Besides the convention itself, the most notable event was the blizzard that hit on Thursday. They got over 8 inches of snow! So that was pretty exciting (although I really didn't enjoy braving that weather to get out for lunch and dinner!). Another highlight was seeing Damon and Diana, who generously took me to and from the airport and out to dinner on Saturday.

Now that the convention is over, I've got a lot to think about and some follow up to do. One good thing is that I think I might be able to present something next year, which would be really good for me to do.

This week will be busy just getting caught up on my normal school work. Today, I've focused on getting things done around the apartment and trying to relax a little.

I do still plan to post some pictures from Mom and Dad's visit; maybe I'll get to that tomorrow.

Don't forget to come back in July so we can test the Amy = Blizzard hypothesis.
