Relief

I've got some good news today. Dr. Troike returned our exams already (it's been less than a week!) and I got an A. After being nervous about it basically all semester, it felt really good to see that grade on the top! He told us we did the best any class at UA ever has on this exam. So I don't know if we're just exceptional, if he's changed his expectations, or if all the talk from the second-years just made us work harder, but it feels good to have succeeded!

I also managed to write about 15 pages of the final paper for Dr. Troike's class over the weekend. I've got a long way to go, but at least I've started drafting. The "target" due date is Tuesday the 21st, and I'm planning to have it done so I can shift my focus to other projects. I'll meet with him on Thursday to see if I'm on the right track.

This afternoon, I met with my Contrastive Rhetoric professor to check in with her about my final project and got some positive feedback there too. Again, I've got my work cut out for me, but it's good to know that I'm doing the right kind of stuff.

I'm still waiting to hear about the summer job I mentioned--they plan to notify the applicants next week. I appreciate your prayers about that; it would be such a relief to have a job lined up. I did just get my fall teaching assignment--I'll have two MWF classes, at 9 and 10am. One will be 107 (all international students) and the other will be a split section (half native speakers and half internationals). Teaching that section should be a really interesting experience!

I think that's all the news I have for now...
